I rented a lens this weekend so I could test it out, and, shocker, I ended up buying it. We have a great camera store here in Charlottesville that rents and sells used equipment along with all the new stuff. I generally buy as many used things as I can, and photography equipment is a natural fit as it cuts down costs tremendously. My new lens used to belong to William Allard, a renowned National Geographic photographer, so I’ve got some big shoes to fill. I am quite smitten with my new toy, and have already had so much fun taking it out and about. Here are some images from my first weekend with the lens – after a run on Ridge Rd; during a hike with Chris, Steph, Erin and all the puppies; and hanging out with Fred and Claire next door.
