We had the most pleasant Sunday this weekend. I’m totally getting the knack of making pie crust. I put my own touch on them using whole wheat flour and only butter (no Crisco for this gal), and I also use the America’s Test Kitchen trick of substituting half of the water with vodka. The alcohol evaporates off, and the pie crust stays dry and flaky. Yum!
We also got outside to enjoy the Spring weather. We got our new basil plants in and planted our spaghetti squash. Basil always does well in our garden, but the spaghetti squash is a new one for this year. We’ll see how it goes. (Update: it did not go well. Apparently spaghetti squash should be planted in the ground, and not in a pot.) While we were out front we hung out with our neighbors, who were also out enjoying the nice day. Chris snapped these great pictures of Claire, and he also got some really cool ones of a bug hanging out on a leaf near our Robin’s nest. And then a little Scottie snuggling rounded out a really nice, relaxing day.
